LGBTQ Counseling

  • Are you working to accept yourself for who you are in a community where you aren’t exactly accepted? You identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and/or questioning/queer and are looking for support. Are you uncomfortable in your own skin?
  • Do you wish you could hold your head high and feel confident in who you are and what you stand for?
  • Perhaps you don’t even have the support of your own family and friends.

You are not alone!

There is no question that you are in part of the country that tends to progress a little slower and I can imagine how difficult this makes becoming who you are meant to be. I have had the privilege of working with the LGBTQ community for the past 5 years and YOU inspire ME. I have watched the incredible struggle that you are faced with on a daily basis become the most beautiful moments of self-acceptance and pride. You are powerful and deserving of happiness.

Imagine living your life without apology

Close your eyes and envision what it might be like to wake up each day knowing who you are and what you stand for. Picture having the skills to battle the world around you that continues to tell you the lies that you may believe today. Imagine having joy each day as you walk into work, as you choose your loving partner and as you unapologetically make the daily decisions that fit the core beliefs within.

I am your ally

Although I am not directly a part of the LGBTQ community you are the closest to my heart when it comes to providing therapy. I have made this connection over the years by directly seeing your struggle and learning about the daily challenges you face. My heart is with you as I watch you fight for your rights, as you fight to be accepted for who you are and as you grow to accept yourself within despite what the world has told you.

Something keeping you from reaching out?

It can be so easy to give into the world that keeps you in a corner where they have convinced you that you belong. It can be scary to finally take the step to reach out for the support that you have gotten used to living without, but there is another way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don’t you accept insurance?

There are several reasons why I do not accept insurance and I talk more about that in the consent paperwork you sign when seeing me. A quick answer would be reduced confidentiality for you, without insurance I do not have to provide a psychiatric diagnosis that can have an impact in many ways, and the ability for you to be in control of your care without the restrictions of insurance.

Is therapy religion based?

The treatment that I provide is not religion based, however if your faith is of great importance to you that is of course welcomed into the therapy room. The overall goal of therapy is to go where you want to go in order to achieve the best possible outcome.

Will I be judged for the things I talk about in therapy?

Absolutely not! The therapeutic room is a judgement free zone and my hope is that you become comfortable enough to explore your struggles while feeling completely safe and understood.
