Young Adult Counseling

Are you struggling with life’s first major transitions? Perhaps you’re in college or venturing into the early stages of adulthood feeling overwhelmed and want to quit. You’re worried you will fail and don’t feel like you can trust yourself. You know that this next stage of life is inevitable, but you just aren’t sure how you are going to get there and you feel crippled by the ordinary day.

I’ve been there too.

I can remember feeling so unsure in my own skin. I can remember feeling sick to my stomach the night before I knew I would have to sign up for a new set of classes because I still didn’t know what direction I wanted my life to go in. I know the feeling of being so overwhelmed with decision making and because of that I didn’t make them at all. I also remember going over every possible detail that could get me out of my current situation and even considered quitting school because I just couldn’t handle the pressure.

The good news…

The good news is that you don’t have to feel this way alone. Believe it or not the feeling of insecurity, sadness and confusion can be overcome. Imagine waking up each morning without dread. Picture feeling confident as a young adult and in control of the direction that your life is moving in. It is possible to face transitions with coping skills to support you through making the decisions necessary for your future. Take a moment and picture yourself laughing and simply feeling content with the phase of life that you are in right now.

My passion for counseling came from being the insecure young adult who could not stop questioning everything. I can relate to the college student who is singing up for classes, following the rules and moving through the ‘right’ motions because you just don’t know what else to do. I remember so many people telling me that they never worried about me because I was doing all of the ‘right’ things, but inside I was screaming every day. You are not alone. If it weren’t for my personal experience in counseling, I would not be working with young adults struggling with the issues I once had today!

Partnering with my clients, we work together to discover insights, tools and emotional awareness that will support entering the sometimes daunting phase of early adulthood. My approach is light-hearted, but direct. I offer online and in-person counseling for you to discover how powerful you really are.

Frequently Asked Questions…

I’ve been to counseling before and didn’t notice much change.

It’s important to make sure that you find the right fit in a therapist in order to see long-term results. I highly encourage my clients to come prepared to ask questions to make sure you are comfortable enough to begin exploring your current struggles.

Do you tell anyone about what we talk about in counseling?

There are only 3 ways in which I would legally be permitted to talk about what we discuss in counseling. 1) If you report any child or elderly abuse, 2) If you are in fear of harming yourself or someone else and 3) If the court subpoenaed your records. Outside of these conditions the therapy room is safe to explore whatever you find helpful for you.

How much will counseling cost?

Each 60-minute session costs $125. Sometimes the cost of counseling can be a concern, but investing in yourself is one of the best things you can do to begin prioritizing YOU.

What do we talk about in counseling?

I truly see my clients as the expert of their own stories, therefore outside of mandated reporting topics you lead me where you want to go. Counseling is meant to foster growth within you.
